My friend~~Mr. Red Belly Woodpecker

A female (top of feeder) & male Downy Woodpecker

It's been so cold here& hubby has been getting
home after dark
&  I am NOT suppose to
be around things like litter boxes, bird droppings, etc
because of chemo reducing my immune system,
so tis slim pickin's around here for the
birds.
They worked and worked to get a few bits of
peanuts. Even a few scuffles.

Thank heavens hubby hunk came home before dark today
and filled ALL the feeders.  The birds will be thankful tomorrow.

Oh So Sweet, Our Mr Sanders

Yesterday..when I came home from my FIRST chemo
treatment, as I took my purse from the car, something
caught my eye in the tree on the side yard.

I thought it was a trash bag in the tree, but
as I turned my head, I saw what it REALLY was.

Our resident possum "Mr Sanders" was up
in the crab tree feasting on berries!!

I yelled for Rich to bring the camera out
& we both got some good shots.

Who could resist that pink nose & furry body??

I just LOVE nature and I felt God had given me this
sighting as a sign He had LOTS of delights left in life for
ME!!

Oh each day is a blessing , please appreciate it and
hold your loved ones CLOSE
and rejoice in the gifts God gives us.  They are there, just
open your eyes to them

Amazing..!! Here's a sweet couple having breakfast in
our back yard.. they like to ground feed.

My friend. Red Belly Woodpecker..without seeing the FRONT
of the head..I can't say if it's male or female..They LOVE peanuts
and suet!!

A Nuthatch..closest. and a sparrow..notice the peanut the Nuthatch has,
just getting ready to fly away to find a perfect nook to eat in.

Somebirdy Has Found a Hunting Ground

I must say..this Merlin Falcon
visits about daily now..
Found a good hunting ground, here in our yard.
He's partial to Dark Eyed Juncos..for
dinner.
I have found evidence of  MURDER
in the yard..
eeekkk..I guess even Falcons have to eat..

Oh I meant to add ..according to the bird books, the Merlin Falcon doesn't come to Illinois!!
woohoo

Tracks in the Snow

The grasses and the sunflowers are still lovely..in the cold, ice..snow & wind

The birds must have taken the Welcome sign seriously..they visited
..I wanted to take pics of the deer tracks, but I still can't venture
out in the slippery woods..I could see them, but too far to venture!!

Through the Window

Oh how I love my Woodpeckers.
The top one is a Downy Woodpecker, tis
a female as males have more red on the tip
of their heads...
..and the other pictures are my
most fave Red Belly Woodpecker.
All dressed up in his black & white!!
This one is a male, I can tell by the amount
of red on his head.

I took these through the window again..as it
snowed a bit and I can't risk slipping on the deck.
It's been 1 month and two days since surgery!

Do you see what I see??

THIS is why I don't have a dishwasher in my home.

Yesterday as I was getting dishes ready to wash
I saw this directly out the window.

Tis a Merlin Falcon, sitting in the Hickory tree above
the bird feeders..If I had a dishwasher, I'd miss these
moments.

It was cold & snowy out..so I took the pic THROUGH the window
didn't even try to go out.
I can't believe how good the picture is.

I did not see him grab any dinner (usually a small bird)
but I know..Merlin's have to eat too..why can't
they just eat MICE???

Nature always thrills me..
did I tell you ??Rich has given my a Native American name
Waves at Wildlife

It suits me fine..I wave at deer, fox, turkeys, anything that will
look at me

Nature in the Singing Woods

Hubby took this of a Merlin Falcon
having a Dark Eyed Junco for lunch.
Very sad, but all God's creatures need food.
Too bad she couldn't have found a mouse..or
one of the crazy MOLES we have..
I'll not be posting much, as I will be starting
chemo in mid January..
but check my  Pink Blog for my progress.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours
