The Turkey's Visit

Yesterday, Sunday about 4 PM, I looked out

the window above the kitchen sink & there were
more than a dozen turkeys in the back of the yard.
I tried to get pics through the window, but
they didn't turn out good.
So hubby went out the garage to try to
get a few pictures.
Needless to say, these turkeys are shy, they hear WELL &
started HUSTLING over the hill.
He got a couple of glimpses , but not what I'd hoped for.
Two weeks ago,  about 1/2 mile away we saw at least 50 in the field
eating.  Oh to have had my camera then.!!
I love nature, and each glimpse of the gifts God made
for us THRILLS me!!

I love nature too - we get the occasional turkey or two in the fall but never that many. Love the pics!

I remember the first time I saw a wild turkey; I wasn't sure that's what it was at first, because I had only seen FAT Thanksgiving turkeys! :)

Deena, we have huge flocks of turkey that come to our yard and eat from our HUGE corn feeder...we have had as many as 60 at a time...they rarely come up close to the house and they are very shy, i will try to get a picture sometime...they are such funny birds...i love when the babies come too, they are so sweet:)

LOL
Looks as if you and I had the same kind of Sunday. Full of turkeys. heehee. Our turkeys were right above us as we drove down the old road. They stayed fifteen to twenty feet away and ahead of us. Then they crossed the road within ten feet of the truck. I looked out the window down the hill and was within smelling distance. I think I will put my red belly peckerwood on my blog today. As I said YOu inspire me. Peace

Deena, love the pictures. God has painted a beautiful landscape with all the wild animals and flowers. We took a swamp tour and it was breath taking. Will try to post some pics soon. Love and Hugs, Pat

Gorgeous captures. I love when things like this happens, it makes you stop and feel the awe of nature. Our wild turkeys usually visit just before Thanksgiving. With good reason, I suppose. I love this blog. Karen

The first time I saw a wild turkey was a few years back on a country road. A car had stopped in front of us and a big two legged creature seemed to be pecking at the guy’s door….hehe! Well he was! The fellow was able to detour around him and get away! Then he spotted us and started to head towards the car. We couldn’t make out what he was but on closer view saw that it was a big wild turkey. My husband got out to greet the pesky fellow but soon wished he hadn’t when the wild thing decided he wanted to take a taste. He rushed inside the car so fast he had us all laughing so hard that we forgot to close the windows and before we could say roll them up the long neck was checking things out inside. We managed to shoo his head out the window with a paper and slowly, very, very, slow we drove away. We named him Barnsdale {the road we met him on}. Funny guy! We always check that road now to watch for him. Saw him a few times more but not yet this year.

Deena,

Love the photos of the turkeys. We do have them here but they are rarely seen.

Are you covered in ice today. We have at least 2 inches, but I think more. I haven't been out and don't plan on going out. The boys are home today taking care of Mom because the school's are all closed.

Love visiting here. Take care and I'm praying for a good day for you.

Blessings,
Mary
