The Promise of a Rose

Having moved to The Singing Woods two years ago, I had to leave behind all my wonderful roses at
my old Victorian. Last year , I decided I needed my roses again, & sent for some Old Fashioned Roses
from Heirloom Roses. I had to BABY these bushes, as soil here is just not compatible to growing
anything.
When I came back from the Folk Art Show @ Cinammon Creek Cabin in KY this last Sunday, I was delighted to see the promise of this rose, Reine de Violette, with it's wonderful buds. The weather has turned quite cool here
but I am hoping she will bloom this week. I can smell her fragance NOW!! alas I am to be blessed with
one of my favorite roses blooming here in the wood.

Life is good, take time to stop & smell the roses~***~ Deena

I'm so glad that you have this rose, too,Deena.
I have an old one climbing my trellis with a deep blue clematis weaving it's way through it.
It's not even close to blooming yet, but seeing your beautiful rosebuds, I know that it'll be soon.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful singing woods.

Oh Deena! I had a Reine de Violette for a few years. It smelled heavenly! I had to move it several times in one year and it died. Be sure to share when it's in full bloom.

It is beautiful. I am so happy that I live a short drive to Heirloom Roses here in my Oregon. You have reminded me that I must get a new Cecille Bruner, for it is among my favorites and this new (old-1889)house of mine requires one. I'm on it now!!!
