Bird Breakfasting

My new DEENA pretty at the left..was made by my friend

Do you know, Mourning Doves mate for life??
Amazing..!! Here's a sweet couple having breakfast in
our back yard.. they like to ground feed.

My friend. Red Belly Woodpecker..without seeing the FRONT
of the head..I can't say if it's male or female..They LOVE peanuts
and suet!!

A Nuthatch..closest. and a sparrow..notice the peanut the Nuthatch has,
just getting ready to fly away to find a perfect nook to eat in.

All so wonderful, your birds! During our two year stint in southern, Ohio, '03 - '05, our favorite winter time joy was to feed the beautiful birds and to enjoy the cooing of the mourning doves. Now I am back in my beloved Oregon feeding the wildlife as ever, but alas, no mourning doves here.

You are a marvelous photographer!

When I read your nature blog, I feel as though I have been on my own walk through the Singing Woods. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us. I enjoy feeding the birds too, and know the weird feeling of seeing a hawk around the yard. The food chain is something we don't think about in our modern lives very often (thank goodness we don't have to!).
God Bless and Keep You!

Deena,

We had mourning doves living nearby and when one of them died, the other mourned terribly. You could hear the song day and night. I think it probably died as well.

Love the photos of your red-headed woodpecker. I haven't seen ours for a bit. I think he is somewhere keeping warm and cozy. I hope we do see him again.

Love all of your photos.
Blessings,
Mary
