My Possum Friend

Did you know, Opossums are Marsupials?? They are!!!!
and this little guy..we call Mr Sanders
The Virginia Opossum is the only North American Opossum.

I was on the deck and tried to get him to look at me.
I talked to him, whistled..he didn't  care, but when hubby
opened the kitchen window and called to him..he went into the
bushes to hide.

I have a opossum the same exact color that comes up on my front porch to eat out of the kitty food pan. I call him "pink toes". When I go to the door to see him, he just looks up and then continues on eating!!

Hi Deena! I had no idea that you had another blog. :) thanks for adding a link! We have a few of these that live underneath our wood deck. When I feed the cat, they come and eat whatever food is left over. As soon as I flick on the back patio light, they scurry away! Your's looks so much smaller than the ones we have and yours is MUCH cuter!

Deena,
You can find the beauty & cute even in this little opossum & remind us that it is one of God's creatures as well. I have often thought people were too hard on these little opossums. Breaks my heart when I see one hit on the road. Glad you are feeling better Deena & thank you for bringing all of these beautiful pictures our way to bring us a smile!!!
Love & Pink hugs from Va.

We have plenty of possums around here, but yours looks cuter. He probably thought he was going to be shot, as that is what most men do to them around here. Glad you are having a great weekend. Love and Hugs, Pat

Deena,

We had a Mr. Sanders living behind our shed last summer. I couldn't believe it when I saw him. Ontario isn't known for having possums. I think he may have hitched a ride on a truck and then found his way to our yard. I'm not sure where he went, but he moved on after a couple of days. I suspect he didn't like being around Meeko.

Take care and thanks so much for sharing your beautiful Singing Woods.

Blessings,
Mary
